The School of Medicine at the University of California, Riverside is recruiting an educator to participate in teaching residents and students, with an experience in advising students who are pursuing education in health professions. This position offers excellent opportunities for teaching and pursuing a career in academic medicine with time dedicated to teaching and scholarly activity. Applicants with experience in medical education at both UME and GME levels are encouraged to apply. Experience and interest in curricular development and clinical skills assessment are preferred. The successful candidate will teach at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine and be responsible for implementing and overseeing the following:
 Oversee and administer the current PIP program
 Review student progress and give feedback on PIP projects
 Create and direct resources for research compliance for medical student research and QI projects.
 Develop a process for student participation in research projects, which could include QI projects, Community-based projects, Medical education projects, etc.
 Develop milestones and processes that will facilitate the completion of student research projects
 Develop and administer a database of mentors / projects for seamless student access
 Develop and run a Medical Education Research office
 Direct and oversee the research office of medical education. This office would emphasize student and faculty involvement. A major objective would be publication of medical education research
 Facilitate a Medical Education Research journal club
 Direct and coordinate funding opportunities for faculty and students related to medical education research
 Identify and develop opportunities for research on community engagement and health inequity
 Direct and coordinate a journal club focused on medical education research, community engagement, and health inequity
 Develop and oversee an evidence-based medicine (EBM) longitudinal thread
 Interface with faculty and leadership to identify a EBM content and sequencing
 Develop and refine EBM content and exercises to prepare students to use EBM tools for team based patient care
 Begin and run a personal research program
This announcement aims to fill a position as part of the Medical Education cluster bringing together faculty with the expertise in medical education and student affairs. The successful applicant must qualify for an academic appointment in Professor of Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical series at the assistant, associate or full professor ranks. The placement of the successful candidate will be in the Division of Biomedical Sciences, or the Division of Clinical Sciences. The successful candidate must possess an M.D., Ph.D or equivalent degree. Additional degrees related to education are desired (M.Ed., M.Med., etc). The successful candidate will be expected to show a strong commitment to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in scholarly activities, University and public service appropriate for the academic appointments in the Division of Biomedical Sciences, or Clinical Sciences. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
